2012 National Challenge Results

In the second year of the Challenge we had 19 applications from across the country! After the public voted for their favorite projects, the top third (based on votes) were sent on to an external review committee to determine the winners.

2012 Winners

The first place winner of the 2012 Screening Saves Lives National Challenge was Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. They received a $5,000 grant to carry out their colorectal cancer screening and awareness project and a visit from the Prevent Cancer Super Colon™.

Good Samaritan Hospital, a small energetic hospital from rural Nebraska, will use their Foundation grant to put on a community wide event featuring the Super Colon™ along with presentations, educational materials and a family “fun run” to encourage physical activity. The event will also promote colorectal cancer screening. Their goal is to provide educational services to 3,000 individuals and screening services to 2,000 individuals.

Second place was Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oaklawn, IL and third place was St. Mary’s County Health Department in Leonardtown, MD.
