Colorectal Health & Screening: Reaching For and Beyond 80%

  • Submitted by Riverside Health System

Through our diverse community partners, Riverside will reach out to individuals in the community and our employees with relevant messages related to the “80% by 2018” campaign and pledge endeavoring to increase understanding of the importance of early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer.  Developing messages related to the population and taking it directly to the community is paramount in getting a community engaged. Riverside will focus efforts to increase colorectal screening by applying core concepts of prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer among those: age 50 and older, African-Americans, the newly insured, rural community engagement, the indigent population at select venues and those at risk including persons younger than age 50.  Our overarching goal is to promote early detection activities that increase the potential diagnosis of colorectal cancer at its earliest stage among Virginians.
